been magazine

DECEMBER 2021 - been magazine issue #5
From the introduction to issue #5:
"I lost a dear friend, editor-in-chief of this magazine, Leslie Barany, this year. The first piece is about him. We had often discussed the idea of writing about his journey because it is inexorably linked to the creation and journey of Been Magazine, and he was as proud (and critical) of it as I am. I am also proud to have called him a friend and I’m sad that he won’t see this. But I can tell you some of his story, which is a good one. His story also links to almost every story in this magazine in some way, too. I like that sort of thing. Connections. Paths cross, diverge, and meet again in unexpected ways. Life, I suppose, is like that. It’s why this magazine started, and it’s how it’ll continue." - Andy Davies
